    * Facts about Twenty One pilots * * The band’s name also serves as a credo for the duo: In the Arthur Miller play All My Sons, a World War II contractor delivers defective airplane parts because fixing the error will be expensive. As a result, 21 pilots are killed. The story reminds Joseph and Dun that they should avoid shortcuts and act with integrity. * Joseph is the lead singer but also contributes percussion, piano, bass and ukulele. Dun mostly handles the rhythm section, often triggering prerecorded tracks to augment the sound. * Joseph was home schooled for a while, which included training in basketball: his mother made him take 500 shots every day. He was offered a basketball scholarship to Otterbein University, but turned it down to pursue music. * They are from Columbus, Ohio, home of Ohio State University. Students there made up much of their early fanbase. * Joseph wears black grease paint on his arms, hands and neck when he performs. He says it represents his insecurities. * Joseph and Dun are also popular in the world of online fan fiction, with fans penning over 2,000 stories that reveal the guys as werewolves, vampires, and even secret lovers. But don't expect the guys to become fans of these tall tales any time soon. "When you start reading stuff like that, it does something weird to your mind," Dun says. "I worry if I read those stories it would change our friendship, so I don't look at them anymore." * Twenty One Pilots started out as a trio with Joseph and two of his high school buddies, Nick Thomas and Chris Salih. When Salih introduced Joseph to Dun, a fellow employee at Guitar Center, the two became fast friends. Dun joined the group when Thomas and Salih left in 2011. * During a hometown gig in 2013, Joseph and Dun were given "X" tattoos onstage to show their dedication to their Columbus fans. Joseph's is on his right bicep, while Dun's is on his neck behind his right ear. Joseph told the crowd: "Columbus, Ohio is where we're from and it will always be where we are from. Whenever someone asks what that X means, I am going to say this is for all of you."

    * Facts about Britney Spears * * She was a member of The Mickey Mouse Club along with Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake when she was 11. She was turned down three years earlier because she was too young. * She won the 1999 American Music Award for Favorite New Artist, but lost the Best New Artist Grammy to Christina Aguilera. * In 2000, a Britney Spears museum was created in her hometown of Kentwood, Louisiana. It's housed inside the town's historical museum. * Her rise coincided with widespread adoption of the internet, and from 1999-2001, she was the most-searched musical artist on Google. She went to the top of the list again 2004 and 2008. * Britney starred in her first movie, Crossroads, in 2001. She played a teenager from Georgia off to California on a road trip where she tries to become a singer. Most critics didn't hate it as much as they thought they would. >> * For years, she claimed to be a virgin, but in 2003, she admitted to having sex with Justin Timberlake, whom she went out with for about two years. Britney described the breakup as very painful and said she thought they would get married someday. * Britney's heritage is half Italian on her father's side, and half French on her mother's side. * In early 2004, Britney secretly wed a lifelong friend, Jason Alexander, in a tiny Las Vegas Chapel. The marriage was annulled 55 hours later. Later that year, she married backup dancer Kevin Federline in a private surprise ceremony. * She married dancer Kevin Federline on September 18, 2004, and took a break from her career to start a family. Their first child, Sean Preston Federline, was born September 14, 2005. Britney filed for divorce on November 7, 2006 less than two months after the birth of their second child, Jayden Federline. * Spears and Federline had their own reality TV show for a short time in 2005 called Britney And Kevin: Chaotic. >> * According to The Sun newspaper, Britney banned all junk food during her 2011 Femme Fatale tour. She gave caterers strict instructions not to prepare or offer her any hot dogs, pizza or cookie dough ice cream and even put a stop to any alcohol being in her presence as well. Britney also requested that Michael Jackson's albums be played repeatedly in her dressing room. * After years of being hounded by aggressive paparazzi, Spears had a series of very public meltdowns that led to her father becoming her conservator in 2008. She remained legally tethered to him, prompting fans to start the #FreeBritney movement in 2019. On February 5, 2021, a New York Times documentary on the subject called Framing Britney Spears began airing on Hulu, drawing widespread attention to her travails. Many of the court records are sealed, and most principals in the case (including Spears) won't talk about it, so much of it remains a mystery. * * On November 12, 2021, Judge Brenda Penny ruled that Britney's 13-year long conservatorship should officially be terminated with immediate effect. * Britney served as a judge during the second season of the American version of The X Factor. With a reported salary of $15 million, she became the highest-paid judge on a singing competition series in television history. Britney quit in early 2013 after failing to boost the audience for the TV talent show. * Britney says that her her guilty pleasure foods are white chocolate and potato chips. She likes the latter "salty and sweet." * Britney Spears' tunes are used to scare away Somali pirates. Navy officer Rachel Owens, who patrols supertankers off the east coast of Africa explained to the Metro: "Her songs were chosen by the security team because they thought the pirates would hate them most. These guys can't stand Western culture or music, making Britney's hits perfect." * * Tracks that proved effective in scaring away Somali pirates from approaching supertankers include Britney's "...Baby One More Time," "Oops... I Did It Again" and "Toxic." "It's so effective the ship's security rarely needs to resort to firing guns," Owens added. * An anagram of Britney Spears is Presbyterians. * Britney admitted on Entertainment Tonight that she's no good at telling jokes. "I would like to be remembered as someone who makes you laugh," she said. "I just think laughter is the most joyful thing you can do. I'm really not [a good joke teller] but I wish I was." * Britney wed for a third time when she tied the knot with personal trainer Sam Asghari on June 9, 2022. The couple were married in front of 60 guests at the Los Angeles nuptials. Her first husband, Jason Alexander, was arrested after he crashed the ceremony. * * Britney Spears and Sam Asghari announced their separation on August 16, 2023, after 14 months of marriage. * According to her 2023 memoir The Woman In Me, Spears was up for the role in the 2004 movie The Notebook that went to Rachel McAdams. She used this time to make her album In The Zone.

Facts about Radiohead Their original name was On A Friday. They switched to Radiohead in 1989 because it was the name of a Talking Heads song. They started playing together and writing songs in 1987. They waited until 1991 to sign a record deal and start recording because they wanted to finish college. Their first album came out in 1993. Used the first "Active Buddy" computer program to promote their album Amnesiac. Called "Googly Minotaur," it was programed to chat with fans and answer questions about Radiohead. The program is an extension of the AOL Instant Messaging system. Radiohead's first #1 album was Kid A, released in October 2000. A few months later, Amnesiac debuted at #2 and sold 25,000 copies more then its predecessor. The albums were recorded at the same sessions. All the members of Radiohead were students at Abingdon School (near Oxford). They all still live nearby. Johnny is Colin's younger brother. When he started playing with the rest of the band, he was only 13. Their 1997 album OK Computer was made in a manor near Bath owned by actress Jane Seymour (Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman). Yorke was born with a paralyzed left eye. It has been partially corrected through various operations. Continuing with the "eye" theme, Johnny is colorblind. Yorke says he was inspired to become a rock star after seeing Queen guitarist Brian May on television. Yorke has done duets with both R.E.M., Björk and PJ Harvey. Their 2003 album Hail to the Thief has been hailed as their "return to rock" album. Though it debuted at #3 on the charts, it sold more copies on its debut than any of their previous albums. O'Brien is 6'5''. The Tallest Member. He was a barman for a time before joining the band. Thom is the shortest member 5’5. Selway is nicknamed "Mad Dog" because of his good manners. It's kind of like when a fat guy is nicknamed "Slim." Thom Yorke (Mojo, April 1995): "We're a mess. But it's a great mess, a glorious mess." Yorke's left eye was affected by ptosis, meaning a drooping of the upper eyelid. He's had several surgical operations in an attempt to correct the condition. When he performs, Jonny Greenwood wears a splint on his right arm. This helps protect his wrist and ease muscle fatigue. Plus, he likes the ritual of putting on the splint before shows, comparing it to a boxer taping up before a fight. Jonny Greenwood has composed the scores for several films, including Bodysong (2003), There Will Be Blood (2007), Norwegian Wood (2010), We Need To Talk About Kevin (2011) and The Master (2012). The group went against the prevailing musical winds in Britain by wholeheartedly rejecting Brit Pop, which they felt was regressive. Jonny Greenwood and Phil Selway were both members of the band that plays at the yule ball in the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire movie. They NEVER had a lineup change In March 2003, Radiohead's 1997 album "OK Computer" came 17th in Classic Rock Magazine's list of the 30 greatest concept albums of all time. In 2005, it was voted by viewers of Channel 4 as the greatest album of all time. Their album "In Rainbows" won the 2008 Ivor Novello Award for album of the year. In June 2019, hackers obtained 18 hours worth of the band's recordings. The hackers demanded a £150.000 ransom or else they would release the entire material online. Instead of giving in, the band decided to release the recordings themselves for a good cause. Bundled as a digital album with a price of £18, the entire proceeds are going to Exctinion Rebellion, an organization with the aim to fight climate change. Their classic lineup is Colin Greenwood, Jonny Greenwood, Ed O'Brien, Phil Selway and Thom Yorke. In 2005, Q magazine selected OK Computer as tenth in its top 40 of the best progressive rock albums ever. The band have been credited by progressive rock musicians (including Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree) with helping to spur a revival of interest in the genre with their ambitious and experimental work. Marillion are fans of Radiohead and in 1998 they covered Radiohead's song "Fake Plastic Trees" for their live album "Unplugged at the Walls". Original Genesis singer Peter Gabriel has often spoken of his love for Radiohead and covered their song "Street Spirit" on his album "Scratch My Back". Their fourth album, Kid A (2000), is ranked number 67 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Their album "Hail to the Thief" was bootlegged two months prior to its release, which is a record. Despite suggestions to release the album earlier to counteract pirating, it was released at the scheduled time and hit #2 on the charts, suggesting that major bootlegging did not drastically affect the album's success. Considered one of the coolest and most critically acclaimed alternative rock bands, the first photograph of the band is unfortunately rather less than cool as it features them posing at Abingdon School as teenagers in front of posters of IQ's "The Wake" (an obscure 1980s prog-rock band), Iron Maiden and Marillion. They were voted the 73rd Greatest Rock 'n' Roll Artists of all time by Rolling Stone.

Facts about Green Day * Green Day were one of the latter-day punk bands to emerge from the 924 Gilman Street club scene in Berkeley, California. Champions of East Bay punk-pop, their mid-'90s success helped bring punk briefly to the forefront of the music industry, which caused a backlash among some fans who accused them of "selling out." * After their first two independent releases, Green Day developed a fervent fanbase, which prompted a bidding war among record labels eager to sign them. They milked the attention for all it was worth, allowing labels to pay for trips, dinners and alcohol even though they had no interest in most of them. They made one suitor take them to Disneyland. * Billie Joe recorded and released his first single, "Looking For Love," at the age of 5 on Fiat records. The first song he wrote and then recorded was "Why Do You Want Him?" when he was 12. * Armstrong and Dirnt played together in a band called Sweet Children before forming Green Day. They once played at a high school party with the band The Lookouts in a remote mountain location near Willits, California. Only five kids showed up for the party and there was no electricity in the house, so Sweet Children had to play using a generator and candlelight, but they played, as Lookouts singer/guitarist Larry Livermore put it, "As if they were the Beatles at Shea Stadium." * The band's name comes from a term referring to a day spent smoking pot, hanging around, and doing absolutely nothing. The band were joint-smokers since puberty and Billie Joe got his nickname, "Two Dollar Bill," from selling joints at that price at his high school. It is widely reported that when the boys went to their high school principal to say that they were dropping out to become a full-time band the principal observed that "would be a green day in hell" before they amounted to anything. * At age 12, Tre Cool became a member of the band The Lookouts. Their album attracted some attention, and Tre began performing at an early age at 924 Gilman Street. In 1987, Armstrong and Dirnt formed The Sweet Children with Armstrong on lead vocals and guitar and Dirnt on bass and backing vocals. They began playing in 1988 at Rod's Hickory Pit in Rodeo, California. In 1989, the Children renamed themselves Green Day, after their first semi-successful song. They soon added Al Sobrante (born John Kiftmeyer), and went looking for a record deal. * Green Day signed with Lookout Records in 1989 and released their first EP, 1,000 Hours And Slappy in 1990. The next year, they produced the album 39/Smooth and released it in 1991. (The EPs would eventually be re-released on one CD as 1039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours). Al Sobrante left the band at this point, and was replaced by Tre. Green Day kicked off a national tour the day after Dirnt graduated from high school in 1990, then returned to the studio to produce their second album Kerplunk in 1992. The group signed with Reprise Records in April 1993 and released Dookie in February 1994. * They played both Lollapalooza and Woodstock 1994. At their Woodstock gig, a mud fight broke out between the band and the audience. The audience won: Dirnt ended up losing his front teeth. * Mike Dirnt was adopted. His adopted parents got divorced when he was young. * Billie Joe's father died of cancer when Billie was 10 years old. Before he died, he gave Billie Joe his first guitar. Billie named it Blue and later created various replicas. >> * Billie Joe Armstrong is a playable character in the skateboarding game Tony Hawk's American Wasteland. The game also includes numerous Marvel characters. >> * Armstrong married Adrienne Nesser in 1994, shortly after Dookie was released. The couple met in 1990 when Green Day played a show in Minnesota, where Adrienne lived. They have two children, Jacob and Joesph. Tre Cool has been married twice, and divorced twice, and has two children, Frankito and Ramone. Mike Dirnt also has a daughter, Estelle. * Every member in Green Day has tattoos, but they all have "E.B.P.M." somewhere on their bodies, meaning "East Bay Punk Mafia." * Other bands Billie Joe was in were Pinhead Gunpowder, Blatz, Goodbye Harry and Corrupted Morals and Rancid. Other instruments he plays are the drums, harmonica, guitar and the mandolin. * Billie Joe's cat, Zero, died in a tragic dryer accident. He confirmed this on Twitter. * In the 2003 film Freaky Friday the daughter Anna (played by Lindsay Lohan) has a Green Day poster in her room. * During soundcheck, Billie Joe likes to practice on the drums, and Tre likes to play Frisbee with the other crew members while they are riding skateboards. Tre also gives away a pair of drumsticks to a random person watching the soundcheck. * Tre is the godfather of Billie Joe's kids. * Billie Joe's hair is naturally reddish brown. If you've seen him with it dyed, you know he's no-holds-barred: blue, red, green, orange, and bright yellow are regularly rotated. * The first instrument Tre played was violin when he was nine years old. >> * They released their Warning album on October 3, 2000, less than two months before the US presidential election, so their record label promoted it with a campaign envisioning Billie Joe Armstrong in the running. One mock ad was pro-Armstrong, proclaiming him "a leader with a flair for leadership and the ability to lead" and ending with the tagline, "Burning the bridge to the 21st century." Another ad was anti-Armstrong, explaining why we shouldn't vote for him: He's a dick and his wife is very ugly. * Dirnt worked as a cook before Green Day became famous. * Armstrong is the youngest of six children. * The band has always been very candid about their drug use. When they started out, they talked openly about their recreational use of amphetamines, alcohol, and of course, marijuana. With the "War On Drug" still raging, this was an unusual admission. * In 2015, the band were inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame, with pop-punk band Fall Out Boy inducting the band at the ceremony on April 18th. To celebrate, Green Day performed a two-hour-plus show at the House of Blues in Cleveland two days before the ceremony, featuring a special hour-long set as their original Sweet Children incarnation - complete with original drummer John Kiffmeyer performing with them for the first time in well over two decades. They also invited Rancid singer Tim Armstrong up to play some songs, including the Rancid song "Radio" that Billie Joe Armstrong had co-written for the band back in 1993. * Facebook founder and Green Day fan Mark Zuckerberg asked Billie Joe Armstrong to play at his wedding in 2012. The singer told Q magazine Zuckerberg set up his first Facebook account for him. "It's a secret one," he said. "Nobody knows I'm on there."

Yes, JC was a better singer but Justin was more charismatic and was an all around talent. He had the vocals, dancing skills, stage presence and looks to make it big. He also aligned himself with great producers and knew which songs would appeal to mainstream.
